BR 1-08: The Reluctant Dragon

One evening, long ago, a shepherd ran home, terrified. “I saw something terrible” he cried. His son looked up from his book and he said “That sounds like a dragon” The next day, he set off up the hill to find the dragon. The dragon was friendly and told stories of long, long ago. However, then the villagers found out about the dragon. Saint George, the dragon killer, is going to fight the dragon. The boy rushed back to the dragon and told that. The dragon didn’t want to fight him. One day, George and the dragon and the boy talked the fight. The day of fight, the dragon pretended to slump to the ground. Villager was happy. The boy and George and the dragon were happy, too. (137)
